New technology allows contactless cards only to be waved just above a scanner, requires no signature, and is growing in popularity. Financial institutions, drug stores, food outlets, convenience stores and theatre chains have begun to use this new device, as "contactless" transactions take less than half the time of using cash, and some consumers spend more when using these cards.

Slow Food Movement: Scrapple anyone?
Article Abstract:
The organization, Slow Food USA hopes that its first national conference in 2008 would help in raising awareness of American regional foods worth preserving in the country. It remains to be seen if the movement would appeal only to the well-off or would have a bearing on the society at large.
