The Australian Shareholders Association wants companies to stop making arbitrary, multi-million-dollar donations to charity out of shareholder funds, and has proposed a dividend-sacrifice scheme for disaster appeal. New approaches to corporate philanthropy that could revolutionize how donations are made in the event of future disasters are discussed.
