Corel settles lawsuit with group of investors

Corel Systems Corp of Ottawa, Ontario, has decided to settle allegations that it overstated its revenues and profits in 1997. The software maker, which maintains that its officials did not do anything illegal, decided to settle so that it could put resources to better use. The lawsuit, filed in Feb 1998, arose from accusations by company investors that Corel management sold part of their holdings in the company at inflated prices.

Zero-Knowledge survives as other dot-coms die

Montreal, Que.-based Zero-Knowledge Systems Inc., which is a software company, is prospering despite a slowdown in the high-tech sector. Zero-Knowledge, which was co-founded by entrepreneur Austin Hill in 1997, has raised $52 million in venture capital financing since it was formed.
