Investor files suit against First Marathon over sale
Article Abstract:
First Marathon Inc shareholder Stephen Epstein has filed a $300 million class-action lawsuit against the brokerage firm and its 13 directors for allegedly failing to negotiate a higher price in its sale to National Bank of Canada. The lawsuit claims that the purchase price of $712 million is only 1.7 times book value and is much lower than the sale prices of other brokerage firms. It also alleges that the $26 per offer share was lower than the share price of Marathon in the days before the acquisition was announced.
