Customers take comfort in Chico's
Article Abstract:
Chico's FAS has become one of the most famous merchants in the apparel retail industry despite having a narrow clientele. The stores are being patronized by Baby boomer women in high-end malls and upscale strip shopping centers for clothes that are comfortable, stylish and casual. The retailer also sells handbags, scarves, shoes, jewelry, belts and other fringe items, such as ornamental key fobs. Its selection has brought the company double-digit sales growth since mid-1997 at sotres open at least a year.

Prestigious Brooks Brothers chain waits for suitor
Article Abstract:
Brooks Brothers Inc of New York, the tailored men's garment giant that was placed in the market in the last week of Mar 2001, continues to wait for possible buyers. Marks and Spencer, the retailer's London, UK-based parent, decided to sell the unit in order to save its other business operations in the UK. Reliable sources, however, said that Brooks Brothers might not even fetch half of the $750 million that Marks and Spencer initially paid for it.
