Delta launches fare sale herding buyers online
Article Abstract:
Delta Air Lines Inc on Jun 25, 2001 offered 20% discounts for Internet bookings made at least 14 days in advance. Tickets for domestic travel must be purchased by Jul 8-Oct 31. The online discount, which includes domestic routes, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia, is offered on the airline's Web site or on Orbitz. The sale comes as Delta tries to recover from bookings lost because of a pilots strike by its subsidiary Comair Inc and from a decline in business travel.

Southwest's fares aren't always lowest
Article Abstract:
The article discusses Southwest Airlines' fares, which are not always the lowest. A government survey of airfares and a USA TODAY fare-shopping test found this information. Southwest's expertise at marketing its Web site as the place to find low fares, and recent actions make it more difficult for consumers to compare the air carrier's fares with those of other airlines.
