Title fight
Article Abstract:
The politics of amending the Native Title Act to satisfy the High Court's decision in the Mabo case are fraught with danger for all sides, making it a virtual lose-lose situation for the Howard government. The history of the Wik debate, its court cases, and the Howard government's 10-point plan, are thoroughly analyzed. The debate has increasingly become polarized, threatening Howard's governing coalition.
