Former Dot-Commers Are Adjusting, Painfully
Article Abstract:
Many executives, who left their traditional companies in the 1990s for the glamour and challenge of succeeding in start-up, dot-com businesses, are returning to those staid and stable corporations due to?unemployment generated by their failed start-ups. They find that applying traditional business practices, business plans, well thought-out budgets, and goal-defined projects are bringing them the success that the chaotic, self-indulgent and short-term spontaneity environment of the dot-com world lacked. A few executives feel they learned the benefits of recognizing steps to business failures, but most traditional companies tend to overlook the lessons they learned because there are? more efficient ways to avoid financial disaster.
