Growth in productivity outpaces U.S
Article Abstract:
Canada's total productivity grew by an average of 0.7% between 1988 and 1997, compared with 0.4% growth posted by the US, according to a report by Statistics Canada. The report also showed that the productivity rate in Canada leaped by 2.3% in 1997, compared with 1.4% in the US. This was the largest annual increase in Canada since 1985. StatCan's report contradicted an earlier OECD report which said that Canada had not kept in pace with the productivity of the six other industrialized countries.
