Auction sites draw deal-seeking shoppers
Article Abstract:
Online auction sites in the United States have projected sales of $8.5 billion in 2000, a 102% increase from sales of $4.2 billion in 1999. The auction sites, which include eBay.com, AuctionWatch.com and uBid.com, attributed the sales growth to good prices, rarity of their items and scarcity of supply. eBay.com, the top-rank auction site, registered a 2.5 million average daily unique visitors for the week ended December 17, 2000, up 47% over the same period a year ago.
