I.B.M. creates a tiny circuit out of carbon
Article Abstract:
IBM Research has constructed a circuit made of nanotubes (carbon strands) in an effort to further the research of finding a chip with nano technology to have more than 10,000 times more transisters within a small space in computer processors. Dr. Phaedon Avouris leads the project in molecular electronics. Two more years of research are needed to build the impossibly tiny circuits. 100,000 nanotubes are about as thick as a human hair. The circuit recently created has only a "yes" and "no" binary operation. The scientists are trying for more complex "and/or" functions.
