Impatient P&G ousts Jager
Article Abstract:
Durk Jager announced his retirement as chairman and CEO of Procter and Gamble (P&G) after 18 months at the posts. Alan Lafley has been chosen as P&G's new CEO while John Pepper, has been reappointed as the company's chairman. Jager's retirement comes at a time when the consumer goods giant reported that its earnings for fiscal fourth quarter ending Jun 2000 would be flat and would not meet the 15 to 17% projected increase. Pepper said the company's trouble stemmed from its decision to undertake too much change too fast.
