Jilted Metro-Richelieu still woos Provigo
Article Abstract:
Metro-Richelieu Inc. is desperately trying to stop Provigo Inc.'s planned merger with Loblaw Cos. Ltd. Industry experts believe that Metro-Richelieu is pushing for a "made-in-Quebec" transaction as both the firm and Provigo are based in Quebec while Loblaw is based in Toronto, Ontario. Metro-Richelieu stated that it is appealing to Provigo's largest stockholder, Caisse de depot et placement de Quebec, to support a merger agreement between the firm and Provigo. Analyst Stephen Jarislowsky believe that a merged Metro-Provigo may be able to dominate the supermarket industry of Quebec.

Quebec winter going to be steamy
Article Abstract:
Premier Jean Charest urged the interest groups to have the magnanimity to not put their corporatist interests before the historic interests of Quebec and its residents, in an attempt to explain his vast plan to overhaul Quebec. It is suggested that Charest must persuade the residents of Quebec that there are genuine economies and efficiencies to be gained from subcontracting, and he must survive the inevitable battle with labor that awaits him.
