Liberties overboard
Article Abstract:
The former federal police commissioner and former Victoria police chief contend that anti-terrorists laws failed to take into account the basic human rights obligations that characterize a democratic society. Cynical electoral politics played a big part in formulation of anti-terrorists laws, however hope exists that people who administer the new laws will prove themselves exceptional and take into account democratic obligations.
