Lincoln Mercury moves West for young, hip inspiration
Article Abstract:
Lincoln Mercury is officially relocating its headquarters on Jul. 7, 1998, to Irvine, CA, partly because the company wants to familiarize itself with current "hip" trends in the car industry in the state. The move is the first time a Big Three automanufacturer has relocated a unit headquarters outside Michigan. For the first six months of 1998, the sales of Mercury decreased 9.3% compared with the same period in 1997, according to Autodata. On the other hand, sales of the smaller Lincoln unit rose 44% mainly due to the Navigator sport-utility car.

Web sites pledge to perform better, next storm around
Article Abstract:
Web sites made a vow to perform a better job of informing travellers about flight cancellations when a hurricane or severe weather hits. Hurricane Floyd caught web sites unawares, with some of them failing to provide news about the hurricane that caused hundreds of flights to be cancelled. Only the web sites run by carriers American and Continental provided information about cancelled flights due to the hurricane. Only Travelocity among the major travel web sites provided some news about the hurricane.
