Lumber duty expires today
Article Abstract:
The U.S. Department of Commerce will lift a 19.3% duty on lumber products imported into the United States from Canada. The U.S. and Canada are negotiating an end to a wide-range of trade restrictions on softwood lumber that may increase Canadian exports of lumber when the U.S. construction season begins in spring 2002.

U.S. group wants no duty on B.C. cedar
Article Abstract:
The U.S. Red Cedar Manufacturers Association is calling on the U.S. government to grant an exemption from duties for red cedar coming in from British Columbia. The group says that the softwood lumber duty is creating difficulties for both American and Canadian cedar companies.
