Microsoft Corp. will face antitrust trial brought by the Justice Department and 20 states. The company is being accused of preventing competition and innovation in the software and Internet markets by monopolizing the software that operates personal computers. The company mainly faces the allegation that it is unfairly bundling its Internet Explorer browser with its Windows 98 operating system. However, the company denies the allegations and defends itself by saying that it is only trying to establish industry standards to make PCs and software more user-friendly.
