More fliers land on the Internet to air complaints
Article Abstract:
Airline passengers are starting to discover that the Internet is a very convenient medium for airing their complaints against airlines. An example is Vincent Andersen who created a Web site as a means of expressing his disgust over the treatment he got during a previous Northwest Airlines trip. Furthermore, the Dept of Transportation revealed that complaints regarding airline service soared to 5,650 cases when it started accepting e-mail in 1999 from 626 cases in 1998.

Airline deals go full throttle
Article Abstract:
American Airlines and United Airlines are each poised to gain a 25% share of the US' airline industry if American succeeds in acquiring TWA, buying 20% of the assets of US Airways from United, and 49% of DC Air. The TWA deal requires TWA to make a liquidation filing with the US Bankruptcy Court and for American to come up with $100 million in interim financing. On the other hand, ownership of the US Airways' assets would allow American to gain jets, gates and slots used by US Airways Shuttle.
