Columbia agrees to $745M penalty
Article Abstract:
Columbia/HCA, the largest hospital chain in the US, has reached a tentative agreement with regulators in which it will pay at least $745 million to settle charges of Medicare fraud. Before it can collect the payment, regulators, however, must first resolve allegations that the company offered illegal incentives to doctors and that it maintained two sets of financial records. The deal must also be approved by the Justice Department and other agencies.
