Noranda to slash dividend by 40%

Toronto, Ont.-based Noranda Inc., which is an international metal producer, has announced plans to issue $500 million in common share stock. Noranda, which is led by president and chief executive officer Derek Pannell, will also cut payouts by 40 per cent.

Manitoba Wal-Mart rejects union bid

Wal-Mart Canada Corp. employees have rejected an attempt to unionize a Thompson, Manitoba store. The United Food and Commercial Workers Union lost a vote which would have created the first unionized Wal-Mart in North America.
