Path to Super Bowl No Longer Lined With Stars
Article Abstract:
The 2004 Super Bowl Game between the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers could be called an exercise in obscurity. Gone are the days of super-teams and superstars flooding the most important contest in the professional football season. Salary caps have played an important role in recycling good and bad teams so that the latter have a chance to get to the playoffs, if not the championship game, because no team can be dominated by high-price stars and the best talent. The new rules for the annual draft also guarantee that lesser teams will get better players every year.
