Preparing to Go Extra Rounds, Candidates Set Their Priorities
Article Abstract:
Tomorrow's New Hampshire primary may determine which Democratic presidential candidate will emerge as the front-runner. Seven states will hold their primaries on Feb. 3 and another 10 will have theirs on Mar. 2. The John Kerry and Howard Dean campaigns still believe that winning as many delegates as possible tomorrow, in February and March is important before the candidates are no longer considered the favored nominee. John Edwards and Wesley Clark know that they need to do well in New Hampshire to maintain a credible challenge to Kerry and Dean.

A Winning Kerry Loosens Up, and Crowds React
Article Abstract:
Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry is beginning to demonstrate his comfort with his front-runner status as he reaches out to voters in the seven states that are holding primaries today. This is a change in political style for the serious senator who is beginning to understand the impact his empathy has with voters and how that is helping him soar in public opinion polls. He is also perceived as the strongest candidate who can defeat Pres. Bush in Nov. 2004.
