Article Abstract:
Government agencies always insisted that warrantless eavesdropping on electronic communications is vital to protecting national security, but the court rejected their request. However, considering the rising terrorism and corruption, the 1978 Foreign Surveillance Intelligence Act established the Foreign Surveillance Intelligence Court (FISC), a secret panel of judges empowered to review government requests for security-related domestic surveillance.
