Privacy in peril: Spying bills stall
Article Abstract:
The Senate and House have not passed the bills to outlaw pretexting, allow warrantless wiretapping, which would have made it easier for the president to eavesdrop on international phone calls and Internet messages in order to combat terrorism. Privacy advocates reveal that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA) system does not require an overhaul, as the proposed changes leave too much room for interpretation and unchecked action by the president.

Out of the shadows
Article Abstract:
The US Supreme Court's landmark 1973 decision, Roe vs. Wade, gave women a qualified constitutional right to abortion but also produced a lasting backlash, as anti-abortion groups won passage to many state and federal restrictions on abortion procedures and access. The evolution of legislations, which regulated the access to abortions since 1973, is discussed.
