Retailers hike into the wilderness business
Article Abstract:
The retailing sector for outdoor gear and equipment in Canada enjoys rapid growth due to the increasing popularity of back-to-nature activities, such as mountain biking, camping and hiking. The emergence of the outdoor-oriented retailing sector as a mainstream business has resulted to increased competition between small and major retailers for a share of the market, which is reportedly worth an estimated C$250 million every year. Outdoor-oriented retailers are establishing larger outlets with improved amenities, such as interactive attractions, to secure the attention of outdoor-activity enthusiasts.
