Scotia unveils front-end no-commission funds

Scotia Discount Brokerage Inc is offering front-end load mutual funds with a zero commission. Scotia said that the zero-commission is applicable to more than 300 funds with an annual trailer fee of at least 0.5% of a client's investment. The brokerage will require a minimum investment of $2,500 for the purchase of these funds but will not charge a penalty fee if investors cash their funds out before 90 days.

Money market funds lure frightened investors

Investors in Canada are veering toward money market funds in response to volatile stock markets. A new report by the Investment Funds Institute of Canada has revealed that investors put a record $2.1 billion in money market funds in March 2001.
