Sharpton Runs for Presidency, and Influence
Article Abstract:
Democratic presidential candidate Al Sharpton faces overwhelming odds in his quest to gain his party's nomination for president. At the age of 49, he is the youngest Democratic candidate who wants to appeal to voters' concerns over civil rights issues despite his waiting to see if Jesse Jackson will endorse him. His upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Light will provide him with more intense national exposure. His reputation still suffers from his involvement in the 1987 Tawana Brawley rape case that was a hoax, and he needs to establish his integrity and reliability as a legitimate political leader.

Sharpton's Bid Renews Queries Over Finances
Article Abstract:
Democratic presidential candidate Al Sharpton's personal and campaign finance records reflect extensive mismanagement, violation of tax and campaign fund laws, and several pending cases over failure of his National Action Network to pay its bills. Campaign records also show that he has used political funds to pay for his personal filmmaker's hotel and travel expenses. Sharpton claims that his organization is an advocacy group staffed by activitists who are not finance experts. Because of external scrutiny, he has stopped staying in high-end luxury hotels during his presidential campaign.
