Fliers seek options
Article Abstract:
US Airways Inc announced that it will stop flying starting on Mar 25, 2000 unless it reaches an agreement with its Assn of Flight Attendants. The carrier is proposing to its union a contract wherein wages and work rules would be simlar to those of the four largest airlines. The move to suspend all flights is intended to prevent the union from conducting unannounced walkouts after a federally imposed deadline expires on midnight of Mar 24, 2000. Major carriers said they will honor US Airways tickets if the airline suspends its flights.

Sky no longer the limit for getting e-mail on flights
Article Abstract:
Airlines are planning to offer e-mail service to their passengers for free or for a nominal fee. For example, Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd will have the service in some of its 56 jets in Jan 2000. Others, such as Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd, American Airlines Inc and United Air Lines Inc, are also committed to have e-mail systems on their planes. According to Larry Bowe of Honeywell Inc's aviation information services, 'e-mail is the single most-requested in-flight service' among business travelers.
