Making hoop dreams come (almost) true
Article Abstract:
NBA 2K offers well rendered professional basketball action for the home video gamer. The players' simulacra approach TV image quality, except when the user chooses certain close up camera angles from among 8 options. Users can draw on actual teams and players for matches, or make up a team, or even make up a player from a menu of characteristics. In portraying actual game play, the software does not succeed as well. The play gives more attention to the offense, leaving the gamer on defense with fewer moves to counter the stars' acrobatics.
