Time Warner sued over 'free-lancers.'
Article Abstract:
Time Warner and its publishing subsidiaries have been charged in a lawsuit filed by the US Department of Labor of denying benefits such as pensions and health plans to employees who had been misclassified as free-lancers. Time Warner President Richard Parsons contended that the allegations have no basis. News organizations usually resort to the practice of hiring free-lance writers and photographers for breaking news in areas where they have no full-time coverage. Time Warner has filed three Freedom of Information Act lawsuits against the department for refusing to disclose information with regards to the labor investigation.

The beast of burden
Article Abstract:
Theater companies, including AMC and Loews Cineplex, continue to see ticket sales of Sony's Godzilla unchanged. The movie managed to generate $18 million in its second weekend, down from the disappointing $55 million it earn over its four-day Memorial Day weekend opening. For instance, Carmike, the chain with the biggest number of screens, cautioned that its earnings for the quarter will be substantially lower than forecast because of Godzilla's unenthusiastic performance.
