Vanishing Identities
Article Abstract:
Katz at Yale University states that the tendency in academy is to see gay and lesbian identity as historically specific and no way essential and feels that in time its importance will diminish. Anti-gay organizations hope for the demise of gay and lesbian identity by arguing that people can overcome same-sex inclinations and that gay studies program and GLBT resource centers mislead students.

Creation on trial
Article Abstract:
State legislature in some states during the 1920s, required that some versions of the biblical account of human origins, often called creationism, or later creation science, be considered instead evolution. In 1982, a US District Court declared that the theory of evolution is not a science and the theory of evolution does not presuppose either the existence or the non-existence of a creator.

Abandoning genesis
Article Abstract:
An opinion by Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist in the year 1987 reconfirmed ban on requirements for 'balanced treatment' of evolution and creationism. The Scalia-Rehniquist opinion led to a 'significant shift' in the approach taken by anti-evolutionists, beginning in 1987.
