What to do as blue-chip bedrock turns into sand
Article Abstract:
The remarkably strong performance of the stocks of high technology firms and the alarming drop in the share value of the stocks of large, stable and prestigious corporations are causing investors to reconsider placing their money on so-called blue chip stocks. Financial planner David Root said it is ironic that traditionally safe blue chip securities have become considerably risky investments, whereas the technology sector has become the safer part of the stock market. Many planners are therefore advising investors to study their mutual fund holdings and evaluate other stock sectors before increasing their holdings of technology stocks.

Mutual funds split to appear accessible
Article Abstract:
Mutual fund companies are dividing their shares into smaller pieces in order to make them more attractive to investors. The smaller pieces do not affect a fund's performance nor do they become easier to buy. Fund companies resort to smaller shares in order to lower their high net asset value (NAV). A high NAV, which is the value of the fund's investments divided by shares, outstanding is not favored by many investors.
