Wireless application protocol (WAP) has not had the expected response among consumers, partly due to problems such as a shortage of handsets, a shortage of applications, high expense, tiny screens, and unfamiliar services. WAP is successful in Japan, however, and better marketing and improved technology could help sales in Australia.
