Administering family leave benefits and new challenges for public personnel management: the New York State experience
Article Abstract:
Family leave benefits administration in the New York State area shows that a reliance on information technology arose for leave records management and administrators took on roles of communicators and coordinators. The New York State experience also shows that issues to be considered for successful implementation include policy equity, active communication between employees and superiors and superiors' knowledge and roles.

The employee benefits practices of New Jersey local governments are discussed. Local government 'family-friendly' benefits are less developed than those benefits in the private sector.
