Common-pool resources and international environmental politics
Article Abstract:
Disputes over distribution of common-pool environmental resources have generated power politics in the global situation. Environmental resources issues are no longer treated as public-goods problems. As the common resources have become scarce, the international society has begun to regulate the maintenance and consumption of environmental products. The political dynamics of common-pool environmental problems involve bargaining, problem recognition, and maintenance change. However, institutional market mechanisms have largely failed to resolve the distribution problems.

The politics of sustainable development: global norms for national implementation
Article Abstract:
The concept of sustainable development has been defined in various ways. Regardless of how the term is used, there is widespread agreement that sustainable development is a potent force in global environment and development politics because it gives expression to realist, or natural law, and consensualist, or democratic, norms. The UN Commission on Sustainable Development is proof of the international community's recognition of the concept's usefulness in environment and development politics.
