Middle East: Divide and rule
Article Abstract:
American policy in Iraq has substantially contributed to deepening and widening sectarian divisions in the region and it is not just Iraq that is in the grip of bloody sectarian disorder, with no hopeful signs in sight, but the Gulf, and some other parts of the Muslim world, are polarised more than ever before along broad Sunni-Shia sectarian lines. Although a majority of Iraq Shiites are Arabs, the political and social landscape of the country has changed so much under the US led occupation that no amount of American effort can now alter the new realities.

Farce or future?
Article Abstract:
An examination of the US government's stated aim of achieving regime change in Iraq and how easy this aim will be to achieve. It is argued that, at present, the only policies which are currently coordinated and focused are those of Saddam Hussein, whereas the policies of the international community are fragmented and the Iraqi opposition is in disarray and is experiencing growing internal tensions.
