The views of writers Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Carlos Fuentes and Kenzaburo Oe regarding various issues are presented. Marquez examined topics such as women, power and the concept of love as portrayed in his literary works. He thinks that journalism should be considered as a literary genre. Fuentes focused on issues such as Catholicism, grace ands literary criticism while Oe dealt with human dignity despite the occurrence of tragedies.

The postmodern worldview denies a general and systematic principle that can explain the course of history. The historical materialist view refutes this claim and asserts that political and economic developments are influenced by the motive to acquire capital. Growth, change and conflict are inevitable results of capitalism.
