Increasing affective organizational commitment in public organizations: the key role of interpersonal trust
Article Abstract:
The author studied the affective organizational commitment of public employees and found that trust in supervisors was a key factor determining commitment. Since that commitment is necessary to organizational success, management should institute practices aimed at trust building which include employee participation and empowerment, and encouraging feedback channels.
