Law: a curriculum necessity for public administration
Article Abstract:
John A. Rohr insists that law should be integrated into the public administration curriculum. Unfortunately, law is not a requirement in many programs approved by the National Assn. of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration. There are a number of reasons why this situation should be corrected. One of these is that a democratic government and public policy are shaped by the relationship between law and administration. Another reason is that an understanding of the Constitution is important in protecting a constitutional democracy.

Reason and power in public administration action
Article Abstract:
Organization theory's dependence on decisionism and technocratic consciousness is the subject of Michael M. Harmon's critique. However, there is only a weak relation between public administration and organization theories because the former is critical of a mainstream positivist approach. As a result, many organization theorists look beyond public administration in theory development. This is unfortunate because there are theorists in the public administration field who have unique and powerful ideas on organizations.
