Managed care as victim or villain?

Issues are discussed regarding the managed care backlash as fueled by employer restriction of consumer health plan choice. As consumer ability to choose among many managed care plans seems to increase their satisfaction with managed care, this may be part of the solution.

Reasons why liberals should be proponents of managed care are discussed and include its emphasis on preventive medicine, on cost containment, and on its potential for adding to community solidarity by bringing about a more equitable distribution of health care resources.
