Article Abstract:
The creation of Nigeria's Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) by human rights groups the Constitutional Rights Project and the Civil Liberties Organisation had a significant impact on the character of the transition from a military government to an elected civilian government, according to Constitutional Rights Project Executive Director Clement Nwankwo. TMG's creation meant that, for the first time in Nigerian politics, a coalition of civil-society groups would be overseeing elections. Nigeria is returning to civilian rule, but continues to face significant economic, political and social problems.

After twenty years: the future of the third wave
Article Abstract:

Many undemocratic processes have been forced out due to global politics and increasing pressures from expanding economies.
