Nuclear suppliers group agrees on 'dual-use' export controls
Article Abstract:
The members of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) have signed an agreement establishing guidelines on exports of nuclear-related dual-use materials. Dual-use items are those which have legitimate non-nuclear uses but can be diverted towards nuclear weapons programs. The new NSG guidelines effectively puts limits on exports of 67 categories of dual-use items. NSG members agreed not to transfer such materials to parties who may apply such materials to non-peaceful purposes.
