Geopolitics, the state, and political economy of growth in Taiwan
Article Abstract:
Statist theory views about the politics of economic growth of Taiwan have been examined. Statist theory argues that the economic success of any country is due to state power, market discipline and collaboration between the state and the private sector. Results indicate that Taiwan's case defies the statist approach since progress was not brought about by an all-powerful state but through regulated state power and the institutionalization of an accumulation regime.
