Reducing the global incidence of civil war: Available policy instruments
Article Abstract:
Research focuses on reducing the global incidence of civil war by preventing opportunities for global conflict, finding ways to shorten the existing conflicts and designing policies for post-conflict societies as they are particularly at a high risk of renewed civil war. The empirical research shows that economic factors are important in determining the risk of war by raising the economic growth rate and harnessing the resource curse.

Article Abstract:
The contribution of critics to peacekeeping forces from the developed countries, and the need for representation from south Asia and Latin America has underpinned the claims of India and Brazil. In contrast, Japan and Germany have based their bids for permanent seats largely on their economic strength, as well as on grounds that they are the second and third largest contributors to the UN budget.
