Further up the learning curve: NGOs from transition to Brussels
Article Abstract:
The accession countries of central and Eastern Europe are under obligation to harmonize with European Union (EU) environmental directives thereby increasing difficulty of domestic NGOs. However, EU membership advantages NGOs to play the role of watchdog for implementing EU-consistent domestic environmental laws.
