Staying alive
Article Abstract:
An examination of the realities of the lives of the over 3.5 million Palestinians who are living under occupation by Israel whose lives go largely unnoticed by the outside world. It is argued that Palestinian society is in danger of bursting at the seams, with 60% unemployment, poverty and social pressure in danger of ripping the Palestinian community apart, creating a society that is unbalanced, self-hating and which could remain psychologically under the thumb of Israel, even if the occupation were to end.

Bending to the storm: Palestinian options in the peace process
Article Abstract:
The Palestinians, recognizing that they must become involved in the peace process, have begun to favor participation in the US-sponsored negotiations with Israel. The Palestinians believe that the benefits of becoming involved in the process outweigh the costs, which could include a split in the national movement. The Palestinians have been cautioned to avoid becoming over-involved with the peace process and to create new economic and political policies inside the Occupied Territories.

Rock bottom?
Article Abstract:
The relations between Palestinian Arabs and the Israeli government have reached a new low. Previous peace settlements have been scraped and there are no new talks on the horizon. Palestinian terrorist acts have increased, including some attributed to Yasser Arafat's Fatah and Force 17 and Israel retaliation has become more brutal.
