The Italian Greens: struggling for survival
Article Abstract:
The future of Italian Green Party (the Verdi), after the victory of the Italian right-wing coalition in March 1994, is dark. Verdi is expected to be further marginalized, part of a losing left-wing Progressive Alliance, in the light of reforms in Italy's party system. The party stands to lose due to its failure to garner more percentage of the electorate and its failure to withstand the popularity of a revivalist, neo-materialist right wing.
