The decline of green politics in France: political ecology since 1992
Article Abstract:
Green parties became a political force in France during the early 1990s, but by 1995 their popularity declined as is evident from their electoral setbacks. Severe differences have cropped in the two green parties, further weakening their position. Such developments cast doubts on the credibility of green politics. Absence of an extra-parliamentary movement as a base, and adoption of green ideas by other political parties have dampened hopes of the green parties of regaining their lost glory. The French green movement needs to unite and reconsider their strategies to recover the lost ground.

Is there hope for the French ecology movement?
Article Abstract:
The French ecology movement was initially successful, but then faced problems which were especially apparent by 1995. This situation changed by 1997 when they gained a government minister and eight deputies as a result of electoral successes. There are divisions within the movement in terms of strategy and ideology, as well as leaders. There has also been an attempt to achieve unity to overcome the problems of the mid-1990s. Divisions persist despite the electoral success, and there is a need to convince activists that it is worth co-operating with the French socialists.

Environmental policy and neo-corporatism in France
Article Abstract:
The French environmental policy has been shaped and characterized by neo-corporatism. Various reasons, including socio-economic obstacles and a lack of resources, have caused environmental policy making to suffer from implementation deficits. Case studies of water management, nature protection and the hunt lobby, and industrial pollution control are included.
