The diffusion of local agenda 21 in Germany: comparing the German federal states
Article Abstract:
An evolution of the German situation 15 years after the implementation of the Local Agenda 21 (LA21) which seems to have reached its end is undertaken with a comparison of LA21 diffusion patterns in the German federal states (Lander). Diffusion patterns in the Lander depended on factors at the local level and state level, and local authorities with greater capacities located near pioneering cities in states which supported LA21 were more likely to initiate an LA21 process was demonstrated.

Environmental governance for China: major recommendations of a Task Force

In 2004, the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) established a Task Force on Environmental Governance. The 25 major recommendations of the Task Force based on a comparative evaluation of the structures, processes and outcomes of the environmental policies in China, the U.S., Japan and European Union are documented.
