The future of civil rights in the 21st century
Article Abstract:
Today's civil rights movement addresses not only the blacks' rights but also the rights of women, minority and the environment. However, the movement has not been able to totally erase the problems plaguing the black community nor prevent immigrants and women from being treated as second class citizens. Most white Americans tend to overlook underlying problems and see only what has been accomplished. Solutions to civil rights issues should be viewed on a national scale while blacks and other minority groups should consolidate with the more liberal whites to fight against discrimination.

Africa and the Caribbean in this year's presidential election
Article Abstract:
Afro-Americans must question the lack of importance given to African and Caribbean issues in the 1992 US presidential election. The US government has extended little aid to Africa in the past, and the 1982 Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI) to encourage free trade between the US and Caribbean has also been of little significance. Afro-American groups in the US must organize a powerful lobby to force the government to strengthen their political relations with Africa and the Caribbean.
